Job summary

MatPel Builders is seeking an experienced Safety Manager to lead our safety program across active jobsites. The role is hands-on, partnering with superintendents and project teams to identify hazards, provide training, investigate incidents, and ensure safety expectations are met.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of construction safety experience, OSHA 30, and bilingual English/Spanish skills. The position requires regular local site visits in the San Francisco Bay Area and travel up to 20%

Qualifications

• Five years of construction safety experience, preferably GC
• Strong knowledge of OSHA/Cal/OSHA construction rules
• Experience conducting inspections, investigations and trainings
• OSHA 30 Construction certification required
• First Aid/CPR certification required or obtained after hire

Responsibilities

• Develop and administer Injury and Illness Prevention Program
• Monitor compliance with OSHA standards and company safety requirements
• Conduct jobsite safety inspections and follow up corrective actions
• Ensure safe site setup with equipment, signage, and emergency supplies
• Lead safety orientations, toolbox talks, and trainings
• Track certifications, training, and renewal dates
• Investigate injuries, incidents, near-misses, and root causes
• Coordinate incident reporting with HR, leadership, and insurers
• Serve as primary contact during Cal/OSHA inspections
• Maintain OSHA logs and training records
• Stay updated on construction safety practices and regulations
