Qualifications

• Senior safety resource with demonstrated safety-management experience on large construction or complex technical projects governed by DOE O 413.3B or comparable requirements.
• DOE or national laboratory environments experience.
• Large capital construction or complex technical projects experience.
• Nuclear or accelerator facilities experience.
• Radiological, industrial and construction safety background.
• Work Planning and Control (WPC) experience.
• Hazard identification, assessment, and mitigation expertise.
• Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and Activity Hazard Documents (AHDs).
• Field safety oversight and regulatory compliance knowledge.
• Operational/readiness and safety documentation/reporting proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Support implementation and continuous improvement of project safety programs.
• Perform safety program assessments and evaluate project safety practices.
• Identify and evaluate industrial, construction, electrical, radiological, lead, hazardous-material hazards.
• Perform hazard assessments and risk evaluations.
• Develop engineering, administrative, and work‑practice controls to mitigate hazards.
• Develop/review JHAs, AHDs, and related work‑planning documentation.
• Verify hazard controls are incorporated into work planning and field execution.
• Perform Work Planning and Control activities, including readiness verification.
• Conduct field observations, safety walkthroughs, and assessments of changing work conditions.
• Coordinate safety with ALS-U management, EH&S, Radiation Protection, and technical teams.
