The role involves integrating into the ALS-U safety organization and managing safety across planning, design, procurement, fabrication, installation, testing, and readiness. The position requires hands-on hazard identification, control development, field safety oversight, and compliance with DOE, LBNL, and ALS-U safety requirements, with preference for DOE/

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience identifying and evaluating workplace hazards.
• Developing effective controls for safety hazards across project stages.
• Experience supporting Work Planning and Control (WPC).
• Ability to review technical and engineering documentation for safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Support implementation and improvement of project safety programs.
• Perform safety assessments and evaluate practices across the ALS-U project.
• Identify hazards: industrial, construction, electrical, radiological, lead, hazardous-materials.
• Develop and review JHAs, AHDs, and related work plans.
• Verify hazard controls are in work plans and field execution.
• Review drawings, specs, installation plans, and test procedures for safety.
