Job summary

VINCI Construction Grands Projets USA is seeking a Safety Coordinator to provide compliance and guidance on design-build transit projects in the Chicago area. You will develop site-specific EHS plans, coordinate safety programs with subcontractors, and lead audits to prevent injuries and incidents.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s in Safety/related field, 7+ years of heavy construction safety experience, and certifications (CHST/CSP).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Civil Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent
• Minimum 7 years of construction safety experience, including heavy construction
• First aid/CPR/AED certified
• Knowledge of OSHA Construction Standards (e.g. OSHA30)
• Professional image and ability to handle highly confidential information
• Technical and analytical problem-solving skills
• Proficient in MS Office Suite
• CHST or CSP certification
• Ability to recognize hazardous situations and make independent judgments on safety
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment with long hours, including nights and weekends

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements site-specific EHS plans in collaboration with the Project Manager and management team, ensuring compliance with company-wide EHS programs.
• Coordinates subcontractor safety protocols and project EHS programs, working to reduce hazards, minimize risks, and prevent injuries or property damage.
• Conducts quarterly site audits and routine inspections to ensure compliance with regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Investigates accidents, prepares incident reports for management review, and ensures proper medical evaluation for injured employees.
• Advises Project Management on industrial hygiene and performs environmental monitoring.
• Manages the Company’s Drug-Free Workplace Policy, overseeing required testing for various employment and incident-related scenarios.
• Provides EHS training, including new hire orientations, to reinforce company safety standards.
• Administers corporate SPAT processes for assigned projects and delivers weekly EHS updates to leadership.
