Job summary

Millerbernd Manufacturing in Winsted, MN is seeking a Senior Safety and Environmental Specialist to monitor safety and environmental programs, ensure OSHA compliance, and drive continuous improvement across processes.

You will develop and deliver trainings, inspect facilities, lead investigations, manage audits, and partner with third-party safety stakeholders to strengthen our safety culture while supporting company policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
• Experience leading safety improvements in manufacturing.
• OSHA 511 certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ownership of Safety Program, Program Results, and Continuous Improvement.
• Inspect facilities/equipment to identify and correct hazards and compliance issues.
• Inspect workplace environments, activities, and conditions to verify compliance with laws and regulations.
• Develop, deliver, and facilitate safety and environmental trainings and awareness programs.
• Develop, maintain, and cascade safety policies.
• Manage environmental compliance and reporting.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, occupational health and safety, or related curriculum

The Opportunity

The Senior Safety and Environmental Specialist is responsible for monitoring the safety and efficiency of the company’s processes to minimize risks and hazards that may occur in the workplace. This role will also plan and or facilitate safety and environmental trainings and programs for all employees to support OSHA, Company policies and other state required regulations while within the premises.

• Inspect facilities/equipment to identify and correct hazards and compliance issues
• Inspect workplace environments, activities, and conditions to verify compliance with federal laws, regulations, and requirements
• Develop, deliver, and facilitate safety and environmental compliance and awareness trainings
• Develop, maintain, and cascade safety policies
• Manage environmental compliance and reporting
• Manage OSHA compliance tasks
• Investigate environmental issues and recommend solutions and fixes
• Investigate workplace incidents (accidents, near misses) to identify root problems, eliminate existing dangers, recommend prevention measures, and assist the team in implementing prevention solutions
• Support internal and external audits
• Manage medical responder team
• Conduct routine and follow-up safety, environmental, and hazard inspections
• Support the continuous evolution of our safety culture
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
• Manage 3 rd party relationships supporting our Safety program

Role Qualifications as a Senior Safety and Environmental Specialist

• Preferred candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, occupational health and safety, or related curriculum or a combination of education and experience equivalent to this requirement
• Experience leading safety improvements in manufacturing
• Experience or exposure to environmental and/or regulatory environments
• OSHA 511 certification preferred
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations, protocols, and/or procedures
