Job summary

Nava Public Benefit Corp. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join small teams building scalable Rails-based services for government partners. You will design, implement, and deliver end-to-end systems that millions rely on, prioritizing simplicity, security, and accessibility.

You'll work across strategy, development, testing, and post-production support, collaborate with government staff and contractors, and participate in on-call rotations in a remote-friendly, United States–based role.

Qualifications

• Experience with Ruby, Ruby on Rails, Typescript.
• At least 12 years of experience in full-stack engineering in fast-paced environments.
• Meaningful experience with web-based, front-end and back-end systems.
• Experience on large-scale applications and systems.
• Adaptive, empathetic, collaborative mindset; strong communication.
• Knowledge of engineering fundamentals and architecture.
• Experience with modern web development frameworks.
• Ability to design scalable, available, performant architectures.
• Self-directed with ability to work in a team and give/receive feedback.
• Experience with automated testing and code quality tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, review, and build well-crafted software with fellow engineers.
• Collaborate with government partners and contractors to architect, implement, and deploy improvements.
• Work in an agile manner to ship features meeting user needs.
• Create tools to automate development, testing, and production workflows.
• Write and review technical documentation and perform code reviews.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to support production systems.
• Take part in hiring activities as needed.
