Job summary

Piper Companies is seeking a Sr. Route/Switch Network Engineer to support a leading government services organization within the defense industry.

The role requires an active TS/SCI Clearance and is onsite five days per week at Fort Meade. You will design, implement, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure, work with Cisco routing/switching, and develop automation scripts in Python while collaborating with cybersecurity and operations teams.

Qualifications

Active TS/SCI clearance is required.
8+ years of experience in enterprise routing and switching.
Strong hands-on experience with Cisco routing and switching.
Expertise with BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VLANs, STP, and TCP/IP.
Experience developing automation scripts in Python.
Experience using GitHub for source control and collaboration.
Familiarity with network security best practices.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and support large-scale enterprise routing and switching environments.
Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco network infrastructure (routers/switches).
Perform advanced network analysis and resolve complex connectivity and performance issues.
Develop network automation scripts using Python to streamline operations.
Utilize GitHub for version control and collaboration on automation initiatives.
Support network modernization, tech refresh projects, and upgrades.
Collaborate with cybersecurity, systems engineering, and operations teams to ensure secure services.
Create and maintain network documentation, diagrams, standards, and procedures.
