Job summary

CertaSite, a Midwest-based fire protection and life safety leader, seeks a route sales and service technician. You will inspect, test, repair, and service extinguishers, exit lights, and hood suppression systems, ensuring compliance with safety codes and customer requirements.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years in route sales and service within life safety, plus a valid U.S. driver's license. Expect handheld tools, driving, and occasional after-hours work as part of this demanding role.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of route sales and service experience in the fire life safety industry with a concentration in extinguishers, e-lights, and hood suppression systems.
• Ability to calculate basic math including fractions, decimals and percentages.
• Must understand and operate basic computer functions (Windows, Word, Apple IOS, Android, Outlook) and learn industry devices/software.
• Must currently have a valid U.S. driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspection, testing, service, and repairs as required for fire extinguishers, exit/emergency lights, and pre-engineered suppression systems, such as six-year maintenance, hydrotest, recharge, battery replacement, bulb replacement and other services and repairs as mandated by Standards and codes, manufacturers requirements, federal, state and local ordinances, and procedures, customer requirements, and expectations and requirements of company
• Troubleshoot and perform service and repair of fire extinguishers, exit/emergency lights, and kitchen hood suppression systems
• Record and document all inspections, repairs, discrepancies, and recommendations either electronically or manually
• Maintain a good positive relationship with the customer and pass on information to the appropriate personnel for follow up, quotes, questions, or concerns
• Maintain vehicle in clean and orderly fashion. Keep vehicle stocked with parts, equipment, and supplies, necessary to perform the job
• Maintain equipment and tools necessary to safely perform job
• Evaluate customer site for additional equipment and services that customer may require
• Work in compliance with the Company's safety program
• Discuss deficiencies noted with customer, explaining the problem and its resolution
• There may be situations which require work on nights, weekends, and/or holidays. For some locations, these demands will be more frequent or required than others.
• Must be comfortable with heights, working on ladders or lifts, or in confined spaces
