Job summary

S&B is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to independently perform design activities for rotating equipment across project phases. The role involves API 612-compliant design, evaluation, and integration of Special Purpose Steam Turbines into a power facility, with field experience a plus.

The ideal candidate holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, 12+ years of mechanical design experience, and an active PE license (reciprocity in other states

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) from an ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum 12 years’ experience in mechanical design or related area.
• Active PE license; ability to obtain reciprocal licensing in additional states (preferred).
• Proficiency with API 612, performance curves, charts, graphs, and engineering theories.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field trips to gather operating data and equipment information.
• Prepare equipment data sheets and assist in vendor bid evaluations.
• Evaluate bids and drawings for complex rotating equipment against specifications.
• Review and update equipment lists, PFDs and P&IDs; ensure alignment with client comments.
