Job summary

Babcock & Wilcox in the United States seeks a Subject Matter Expert for Integrated Steam Power Plant Design. This role serves as the technical authority for configuring and optimizing boiler systems, steam turbines, condensers, and balance-of-plant connections across the project lifecycle from concept to commissioning.

The SME leads cross-disciplinary teams, resolves complex technical issues, reviews design bases, and mentors engineers while ensuring compliance with ASME codes and performance

Qualifications

• Minimum 20 years of experience in utility-scale steam power generation.
• Expert knowledge of boiler, turbine, and condenser systems.
• Experience with greenfield or major retrofit projects.
• Ability to manage plant-level design decisions across phases.
• Strong communication with customers and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical authority for integrated steam-cycle plant design.
• Lead development of plant configurations and design bases.
• Optimize steam cycle design including heat balances.
• Coordinate interfaces among boiler, turbine, condensers, and balance-of-plant.
• Lead design reviews and risk assessments.
• Prepare specifications and supplier documents.
• Support proposals, cost estimates, and project assurance.
• Mentor engineers and communicate decisions.
