Job summary

Voyager Space in Pittsburgh, PA, is seeking a Senior Robotics Software Engineer to build perception systems for autonomous rovers and robotic spacecraft. You will design and implement stereo vision, LiDAR, and sensor fusion pipelines, enabling reliable state estimation, hazard detection, and autonomous guidance.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of hands-on experience in C++/Python, with Linux production software experience and a background in robotics and GNC systems.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Aerospace or related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on work experience developing algorithms to solve challenging real-world problems.
• Strong programming skills in modern C++ and Python.
• Experience shipping production software in a Linux environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain perception software for autonomous rovers and robotic spacecraft.
• Develop stereo vision and LiDAR algorithms for visual-inertial odometry, hazard detection and avoidance, mapping, and localization.
• Build sensor fusion pipelines combining camera, LiDAR, IMU, RF, and navigation measurements.
• Implement feature detection, image registration, optical flow, and point cloud processing pipelines.
• Design kinematics-informed motion control, path planning, and behavior control systems for surface vehicles.
• Optimize robotics software for embedded ARM processors and heterogeneous compute platforms including GPUs and FPGAs.
• Integrate robotics algorithms into flight software architectures.
• Develop simulation tools and sensor models of varying fidelities for algorithm and system development and validation.
• Develop automated testing, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), and software-in-the-loop (SIL) verification frameworks.
