Job summary

Bonsai Robotics, Inc. is seeking a Senior Robotics Software Engineer, Simulation to own and advance our simulation platform. You will model real field conditions, integrate with ROS 2, and ensure end-to-end testing from sensor models to autonomy stack.

You will build deterministic, scalable simulation, generate synthetic data for perception, and collaborate across perception, controls, and platform teams to close sim-to-real gaps.

Qualifications

• Strong CS fundamentals and systems fluency.
• 5+ years of robotics software engineering with focus on simulation.
• 2+ years building SIL/HIL or closed-loop evaluation systems.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain simulation environments modeling field conditions (orchards, vineyards, crops).
• Own the interface between the simulator and ROS 2 autonomy stack; build SIL/HIL frameworks.
• Convert field logs into simulation scenarios and expand the scenario library.
• Create sensor models (cameras, GNSS/RTK, IMUs, LiDAR) with noise and failure modes.
• Model vehicle dynamics and terrain interaction across multiple robot form factors.
• Develop automated scenario generation, evaluation metrics, and CI-based testing for autonomy stack.
