Job summary

Burro in Philadelphia is seeking a Senior Robotics Platform Engineer to own the provisioning pipeline for our field robotics fleet. The role focuses on scaling bare-metal Linux environments, imaging thousands of devices, and automating the end-to-end deployment from hardware bring-up to pre-shipment validation.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years building hardware-scale infrastructure, strong Linux expertise, and experience with containerized deployments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years designing and operating infrastructure for hardware at scale: robotics, autonomous vehicles, or industrial IoT.
• Strong Linux systems administration: kernel config, systemd, networking, storage, hardware interfaces.
• Proficiency with containerization and image management at OS level (Docker/Podman).
• Experience building provisioning or imaging pipelines for hundreds to thousands of devices.
• Ability to work across engineering, manufacturing, and support and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Design and own the end-to-end provisioning pipeline from bare-metal OS imaging to hardware configuration and pre-shipment validation.
• Own provisioning for robot peripherals: depth cameras, LiDAR, GPS, motor drivers, networking.
• Develop end-of-line test frameworks with pass/fail logging and traceability per unit.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to keep tooling robust, repeatable, and operator-friendly.
• Support fleet operation by diagnosing, repairing, and re-provisioning units in the field with minimal downtime.
• Work with R&D to commercialize and deploy new hardware features with reliability in production.
• Build monitoring and logging for the provisioning pipeline and fleet health dashboards.
• Document all systems, processes, and runbooks.
