Job summary

Forterra is seeking a senior software integration engineer to design, develop, test, and maintain software that enables autonomous behavior in robotics and automation technologies. You will work on the shared foundation of our autonomy stack supporting every vehicle and application.

The role requires a strong software engineering background, robotics familiarity, robust testing skills, and collaboration with engineers, researchers, and product managers to deliver scalable software for complex

Qualifications

  • 5 to 8 years of relevant experience.
  • B.S. or M.S. in computer science, engineering, robotics, or related field.
  • Experience integrating and validating software on physical hardware.
  • Strong programming skills in C++ and/or Python.
  • Demonstrates clean, maintainable code, durable test coverage, and documentation practices.
  • Debugging across subsystem boundaries from a symptom on a vehicle to a root cause in someone else’s code.
  • Ability to consistently deliver and maintain production-quality software in a continuously integrated environment.
  • Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and software design principles.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the core software release cycle: deliver new capability through rolling development releases and long-term support releases.
  • Own performance across the whole vehicle: optimize sensing, compute, and controls for holistic gains.
  • Prove the stack on real hardware: deploy and validate the autonomy stack on vehicles under real-world conditions.
  • Close the loop from test to deploy: analyze results, identify root causes, and drive fixes with engineering teams.
  • Build with the teams around you: collaborate across the organization to deliver new behaviors, payload integrations, and emerging use-cases.
