Job summary

Applied Intuition Defence in London is seeking a Senior Robotics Software Engineer to lead autonomy software integration across field deployments and lab tests. You will shape mission behaviour, navigation, and decision-making for defense platforms.

You will mentor engineers, drive technical direction, and work across hardware and software domains with embedded Linux, ROS-like frameworks, and real-time systems.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Robotics, Computer Science, or related engineering field.
• 6+ years of hands-on robotics experience across hardware, software and integration.
• Experience leading technical design decisions on autonomy problems with minimal guidance.
• Experience with autonomy behavior and navigation algorithms for robotic systems.
• Experience with modern C++ and Pixhawk autopilots (ArduPilot/PX4).
• Experience integrating with UART/RS232/RS422/RS485, SPI/QSPI, I2C, Ethernet.
• Experience developing in Docker and Linux-based environments; familiar with SIL/HIL.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design and architecture of autonomy solutions across platforms.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, reviewing designs and code.
• Develop mission behaviour, navigation, and decision-making logic for defense platforms.
• Design and implement modular autonomy capabilities reusable across vehicle types.
• Integrate and deploy autonomy onto embedded Linux hardware, interfacing with sensors.
• Conduct system-level testing including SIL and HIL evaluations.
• Support live flight test of autonomy software on UAVs and troubleshoot issues.
• Collaborate with 3rd party UAS vendors and cross-functional teams.
