Job summary

Digital Surgery Systems Inc. in Goleta, CA, seeks a Senior Systems Engineer to lead the design, analysis, and development of the next generation of robotic digital 3D surgical microscopes.

You will shape future products, support existing ones, and create design documents including workflows, DFMEA, risk analysis, and architecture. You will drive system-level requirements, work with regulatory affairs on MDR/FDA submissions, and ensure traceability from requirements to verification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 3–5 years of related experience, or an advanced degree.
• Experience leading system architecture for medical products.
• Ability to create and review technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct technical proof of concepts for emerging medical technologies to shape next-gen products.
• Lead system architectural development across electrical, optical, mechanical, and software domains.
• Create system-level documentation to organize architectures and mitigate risk.
• Develop system-level requirements covering all performance aspects.
• Coordinate with regulatory affairs for test results and regulatory submissions (MDR/FDA).
• Maintain traceability between requirements and verification testing (IOVV).
• Manage the system RMF via cross-functional risk analysis.
• Collaborate with product management to translate voice of the customer and attend labs/conferences.
