We are hiring! AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior Roadway Project Manager to join our Raleigh, NC office.

Under direction, applies technical expertise and project management experience to manage Highway and Roadway Design teams on conventional or unconventional projects. Also performs the basic project functions of production coordination, planning, organizing, directing, controlling, financial management, and marketing assistance. Functions as a mentor to technical professionals to assist in their training and development.

How will you contribute to the team?

  1. Coordinate and participate in contract negotiations with clients and subcontractors, drafting complex professional service agreements for review and approval by senior management.
  2. Direct project team compliance with contract terms, monitor subcontractors’ progress, performance, and contractual commitments.
  3. Participate in contract dispute resolution and litigation concerning project performance, administration, and liability issues.
  4. Review and approve subconsultant and vendor invoices, resolving payment disputes.
  5. Develop, communicate, and manage project quality assurance, administrative procedures, communication guidelines, deliverable formats, and progress reporting.
  6. Monitor schedules, billing, and reports.
  7. Ensure proper charging of manhours, costs, and expenses to projects.
  8. Assist in obtaining payments from clients, resolve disputes, and communicate project progress to senior management.
  9. Identify new business opportunities, participate in project presentations, and promote the firm’s capabilities and services.
  10. Participate in project opportunity evaluation, consultant selection, and preparation of qualification/experience statements.
  11. Coordinate communication with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, serving as an expert witness if necessary.
  12. Supervise other project managers and technical staff, managing workload and manpower forecasting.
  13. Conduct project management training workshops and mentor associate project managers.
  14. Monitor and report on the financial status of projects.
  15. Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

What will you contribute?

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering; a graduate degree is preferred.
  • Management coursework and/or MBA is a plus.
  • Minimum 20+ years of experience, including at least 2 years as a Senior Technical Professional.
  • 8 years of experience in project production and technical activities.
  • PE license required in NC.
  • Professional registration in relevant fields, if available.
  • Strong project financial management and team leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with production support systems and personal computers.
  • NCDOT experience is a major plus but not required.
  • Experience with MicroStation and OpenRoads is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience with highway design software required.
  • Client interaction and staff management experience required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, public speaking, and persuasive skills.
