Job summary

Kimley-Horn is seeking a Civil Engineer with 8+ years of experience to join our Roadway team in Kentucky. You will design, review, and manage roadway projects in collaboration with a multidisciplinary design group.

Responsibilities include creating alignments, preparing plans, estimates, and specifications, obtaining permits, and supporting construction through progress reviews while ensuring compliance with standards and safety.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of relevant engineering design experience.
  • P.E. License (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
  • Proficiency in Microstation, Open Roads, AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, roadway design standards and traffic engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed roadway designs with the design team, ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Prepare project plans, feasibility studies and cost estimates for roadway projects.
  • Select materials and prepare specifications for road construction and maintenance.
  • Create alignments and geometric designs for roads and intersections.
  • Obtain permits and approvals from authorities for roadway projects.
  • Provide construction support, review plans and oversee progress.
  • Conduct inspections and quality control to ensure design standards are met.
  • Incorporate environmental considerations in roadway design (stormwater, impact assessments).
  • Monitor project progress, budgets and schedules.
  • Collaborate with engineers, jurisdictions and contractors on a variety of projects.
