Job summary

ms consultants, inc. is seeking a Roadway Engineer in North Carolina to design highway and local road projects, lead QA reviews, and mentor junior staff. You’ll collaborate with a skilled team to deliver cost-effective, sustainable transportation solutions.

The role requires a NC PE or the ability to obtain one within 6 months, familiarity with AASHTO/NCDOT standards, and strong communication with clients.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in North Carolina or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Proficiency in roadway design plans and NCDOT design experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Roadway design: lead design and plan prep for highway and local road projects.
• Quality assurance: conduct internal reviews to meet high technical standards.
• Mentorship: guide junior engineers and foster professional growth.
• Proposal development: assist in preparing and negotiating project fees.
• Scheduling and budgeting: create design schedules, cost estimates, and submittals.
• Client interaction: build and maintain relationships through presentations and updates.
• Scope and change management: recognize changes and assist with contract negotiations.
• Team collaboration: work with engineers, technicians, and staff to deliver projects.
