Job summary

LJB Inc. is seeking a Roadway Design Engineer in Raleigh, NC to perform design tasks for roadway projects from preliminary to final design.

You will develop specifications, cost estimates, and bid packages while coordinating with clients and project managers across DOTs. Ideal candidates have 10–20 years in transportation/roadway design, with a NC PE license (or the goal to obtain within the first year), and strong leadership and mentoring abilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering is required.
• 10–20 years of progressive engineering experience in transportation/roadway design.
• P.E. license required; NC PE preferred; NC PE within first year.
• Experience with DOT design projects and multiple DOTs is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform roadway design tasks from preliminary to final design.
• Develop specifications, cost estimates, and bid packages.
• Coordinate with client staff, project managers, and local governments.
• Mentor junior engineers in final design plans and related processes.
• Lead design activities, manage schedules and budgets, and contribute to leadership within transportation organizations.
