Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an experienced civil/transportation engineer to lead large-scale projects such as highways, tunnels, transit and aviation designs. You will review drafts for compliance, seal designs, and supervise site reviews to ensure alignment with location specs.

The role requires a PE license and 10 years of related experience, with travel 20–40%. Domestic and international travel may be involved; mentoring junior staff is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional engineering (PE) license.
• 10 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Develop large-scale projects such as highways, tunnels, mass transit and aviation designs.
• Review designs for compliance with regulations and sign off on completed designs.
• Ensure firm policies are followed on all designs.
• Sign and seal engineering designs as necessary.
• Perform site reviews to align designs with location specs.
• Update design requirements as necessary.
• Inspect new construction and existing transportation structures.
• Contribute to firm’s technical knowledge with papers and designs.
• Collaborate with sales to create proposals in response to RFPs.
• Review proposals for regulatory adherence and best practices.
• Meet with clients to review design needs.
