Job summary

Wight & Company in Illinois is seeking a seasoned civil engineer to lead multidisciplinary project delivery for transportation infrastructure. You will coordinate with clients and stakeholders, ensure compliance with codes, and guide field inspection activities for road and bridge projects.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering, is a licensed IL PE, and has 10+ years with DOT agencies. Strong leadership, relationship-building, and professional judgment are essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university.
Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois.
10+ years’ experience working with Chicago DOT, IDOT, Illinois Tollway, or comparable transportation agencies.
Proven ability to lead successful teams, internally and externally.
Proven ability to build effective business relationships.
Certifications, including IDOT Documentation of Contract Quantities.
Transportation design and constructability review experience is a plus.
Experience on transit and/or utility projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

Lead construction project delivery team towards client-defined success.
Coordinate and communicate with various project stakeholders.
Composure and diplomatic problem solving.
Analyze applicable codes, standards, and specifications for compliance.
Supervise general field inspection of Road and Bridge Construction including measurement, calculation, and reporting of installed quantities.
Oversee materials sampling and testing schedules.
Monitor and analyze progress of contractor’s work.
Mentor and lead inspection team.
