The candidate will lead design and plan production teams to successfully deliver transportation infrastructure projects, including freeways, highways, roadways, and bridges. Ideal candidates should have proven experience managing both Phase I and Phase II transportation projects in Illinois, preferably with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and the Illinois Tollway. Proficiency with MicroStation and OpenRoads is required.
Responsibilities
Lead and mentor a team of engineers and drafters, ensuring successful project delivery.
Communicate and collaborate effectively with team members, clients, and external agencies.
Coordinate with subconsultants to ensure seamless project integration.
Provide direction and training to staff on project engineering tasks, including roadway geometrics, corridor modeling, and staging.
Prepare comprehensive project design and environmental reports.
Assist with the preparation of proposals and contracts.
Manage project financials and budgets to ensure successful outcomes.
Participate in quality control and quality assurance processes.
Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Illinois required.
7 to 12 years of progressive experience in transportation design.
In-depth knowledge of Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and Illinois Tollway design engineering practices, standards, and documentation.
Proficiency with MicroStation V8i SS10, OpenRoads Designer Connect Edition (CE), ProjectWise, AutoTURN, Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam.
Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with design teams, clients, and agencies.
Excellent decision-making abilities, flexibility, a commitment to quality, and keen attention to detail.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
