Job summary

The American Water Works Association is seeking a Chief Operator to oversee the City’s RO Water Treatment Plant operations under the Water Plant Director. You will plan, organize, and direct the work of skilled staff to ensure a safe and reliable public water supply.

This role requires independent judgment within policies and regulatory guidelines, with occasional evening, weekend, and holiday overtime to maintain continuous service. Strong supervisory and technical skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with five years in RO plant operation/maintenance; three years supervisory experience.
• Minimum Level B Water Treatment Plant Operator license; Florida reciprocal if applicable.
• Florida driver’s license and SEDA MOC certification or within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Oversees RO plant operations, maintenance, and repairs; enforces policies and standards.
• Directs staff scheduling, training, safety, and performance evaluations.
• Maintains records, prepares reports, and analyzes water quality and system data.
• Responds to emergencies and SCADA alarms; coordinates with stakeholders.
