Job summary

King County seeks a Supervising Engineer (Engineer IV) to lead the Strike Team in the River and Floodplain Management Section of WLRD. Qualifications

  • BS in civil/environmental/water resources or closely related field.
  • 10+ years leading river/floodplain capital projects and open channel hydraulics.
  • Experience with PSE (plans, specifications, and estimates) for large public works.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Washington or ability to obtain within six months.
  • Strong collaboration with diverse teams and external partners.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering supervision, technical oversight, and QC for river/floodplain capital projects.
  • Lead engineers on the Strike Team, including hiring, performance management, and mentoring.
  • Coordinate with unit supervisors and project managers to plan delivery and priorities.
  • Lead planning, design, and construction including revetment, levee, floodwall and repair work.
  • Develop workflow processes to ensure consistent delivery of capital projects.
  • Apply equity and social justice principles in engagement with partners and communities.
  • Collaborate across programs to develop annual capital budgets and project cost estimates.
