Job summary

M.C. Dean is seeking a senior Rigging 2 professional to validate load information, select and verify rigging arrangements, and lead pre‑lift preparations for complex lifts.

You will mentor junior rigging personnel and coordinate with crane operators, safety teams, and installers to ensure safe, efficient load handling. The role requires current CCO Signalperson and RIG‑I/II certifications, a strong knowledge of lift plans, and proven leadership in high‑consequence rigging tasks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 4 years of experience in rigging.
• Current CCO Signalperson (SGP) certification.
• Current CCO RIG-I and RIG-II certifications.
• Documented employer practical qualification for assigned rigging duties.
• Forklift/telehandler, aerial lift or MEWP, chain-hoist, jacking, skating qualifications when assigned.
• Working knowledge of lift plans and regulatory requirements for assigned work.
• Ability to lead nonroutine rigging work and provide clear technical direction in the field.

Responsibilities

• Lead hazard reviews for nonroutine lifts, including load stability, stored energy, access, obstructions, and weather.
• Review lift packages, drawings, manufacturer data, and site conditions for load weight and CG.
• Determine or validate load weight and center of gravity; calculate sling‑leg tension and load distribution.
• Select and verify multi‑leg systems, spreader beams, hoists, and attachments for condition and capacity.
• Develop rigging arrangements for irregular or difficult‑access loads within limits.
• Lead pre‑lift briefings and plan signal coverage and handoffs.
• Direct test lifts and controlled movements to final placement.
• Coordinate with crane operators, safety personnel, and installation teams.
