Job summary

Muon Space is seeking a Staff Mission Lead Systems Engineer for RF systems to guide mission concepts from study to on-orbit operations. You will partner with the Mission Architecture team to shape technical baselines, drive architecture trades, and own end-to-end technical success for demanding government and commercial missions.

As a primary technical interface, you will coordinate with customers, hardware, software, and operations teams, guiding trades, requirements, and verification efforts

Qualifications

• BS or higher in engineering; 8+ years in complex systems, mission architecture, and/or spacecraft design.
• Direct RF systems engineering experience including RF payload/design, link budget analysis, spectrum and regulatory considerations.
• Experience as a technical lead on complex systems for USG/DoD/IC or commercial customers.
• Familiarity with USG/IC acquisition programs, space system standards, and mission assurance practices.
• Active TS/SCI security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Mission Architecture team during study efforts to shape mission concepts and baselines.
• Develop and maintain mission-level system models, including architecture, requirements, interfaces, and behavior.
• Serve as the ultimate technical authority, leading the conceptualization, design, and development of the mission.
• Define mission CONOPS and manage subsystem budgets (power, data, mass, pointing).
• Coordinate design changes across disciplines and lead design/test readiness reviews.
• Monitor on-orbit spacecraft and data pipelines to ensure mission success and customer requirements are met.
