Job summary

Cubic Corporation in San Diego is seeking an experienced RF Engineer to lead hardware development for AESA and beam-forming systems, calibrate RF channels in an anechoic chamber, and drive hardware-software integration. You will act as Control Account Manager, owning the team’s budget and schedule, and coordinate with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery.

A four-year engineering degree and 5+ years RF experience are required; DoD clearance is possible.

Qualifications

  • Four-year degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline with 5+ years experience in RF design.
  • Experience in RF design, laboratory testing and antenna measurements; DoD clearance possible.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to work under deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Lead hardware development of AESA and RF beam forming systems.
  • Develop, implement, and validate procedures to calibrate multiple communication systems in an RF anechoic chamber.
  • Act as CAM, owning the RF team budget and schedule for a given project.
  • Lead laboratory integration of hardware, software, and firmware and demonstrate to customers.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and ensure timely purchase orders and parts.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Lead hardware development of AESA, digital beam forming, analog beam forming system. Develop, implement, and validate procedure to calibrate multiple communication systems in RF Anechoic chamber. Work with engineering fellows to design RF architecture to meet customer system requirements. Act as Control Account Manager (CAM), owning the RF team’s budget and schedule for a given project. Lead laboratory integration of hardware, software, and firmware, and demonstrate to customers. Complete Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) block diagram, component identification, circuit simulation, schematic capture, board layout, and fab in Altium, HFSS, Spice, Geneys, HyperLynx, Visio. Work with facilities to relocate mmWave Anechoic test chamber to another building and expand test capability to Ka-band. Manage suppliers through PWB fabrication, CCA assembly; coordinate with supply chain to ensure all Purchase Orders are completed timely. Manage other engineers and technicians in the lab. Perform make vs buy analysis for optimal solution. This is an on‑site position, 9/80 schedule.

Minimum Job Requirements

Four‑year college degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline, plus a minimum of five years related experience, or a master’s degree with three years of experience. Experience in RF design, laboratory testing, AESA, digital beam forming, analog beam forming, antenna measurements, and implementing firmware to adjust RF performance. Effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to use personal computer software such as MATLAB and Altium. Mental ability to perform engineering problem solving and analytical tasks. Must be able to work under project deadlines and associated cost and schedule constraints. SATCOM experience preferred. Ability to obtain a DOD Security Clearance.

Cubic Pay Range

$136,000.00 - $152,000.00 + benefits. The Cubic pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
