Maine Public employees Retirement System in Augusta, ME seeks a Retirement Services Business Leader to guide a team delivering timely, accurate retirement benefits to public employees and retirees.

The role blends people leadership with technical expertise, requiring strong supervision, policy knowledge, and the ability to navigate statutes and MainePERS procedures. This is a full-time position with a comprehensive benefits package and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a relevant field plus 5+ years as SME; or 10+ years as SME.
• Supervisory experience or significant team leadership experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; Beginner Excel.
• Ability to travel within the state; valid driver's license and good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team with day-to-day supervision and performance reviews.
• Serve as SME for processes, policies, and legal provisions.
• Provide guidance to Specialists and other departments to ensure work is accurate and timely.
• Explain statutes, rules, MainePERS procedures to members and employers.
• Analyze complex issues, research, evaluate solutions, and implement timely resolutions.
• Develop and deliver discipline-specific training to staff.
• Maintain policies and user manuals to promote consistency.
• Conduct regular team meetings and promote communication and accountability.
