Job summary

Retina Consultants of Carolina is seeking a Billing Specialist to join our Greenville office. The role operates 8 am–5 pm, Monday through Thursday, and 8 am–12:30 pm Friday, with a rotating schedule to work all day on Fridays.

The Billing Specialist reports directly to the Billing Manager. The position requires handling authorizations, eligibility checks, claim follow-up, payer communications, and reporting.

Qualifications

• Five years of medical billing experience preferred, two years required.
• Experience in a high-volume billing office.

Responsibilities

• Request authorizations for injections, procedures and in-office surgeries.
• Check eligibility and run reports for assigned offices.
• Claim follow-up and denial reprocessing for Medicare and other insurances.
• Communicate with payers regarding denials and coverage changes.
• Maintain current authorizations for all applicable insurances.
• Prepare reports for monthly billing meetings.
• Stay informed on Medicare Local/National Coverage Determination related to our services.
• Post insurance and patient payments as needed.
• Manage patient financial assistance programs for medications.
• Serve as back-up for other billing staff.
