Job summary

Max Downtown, Hartford, CT, seeks a full-time Restaurant Manager to lead a refined, high-volume dining room with open availability. You will oversee daily operations, ensure safety and service excellence, and guide a team toward superior guest experiences.

Ideal candidates bring 2+ years in upscale settings, strong leadership and communication skills, and comfort with Toast POS/OpenTable; wine and cocktail knowledge is a plus. This is a salaried, 50-hour week role with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of management experience in a high-volume, fine dining or upscale-casual restaurant environment.
• Strong background in guest service, staff development, and operational excellence.
• Familiarity with Toast POS and OpenTable preferred; experience managing wine and cocktail service is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Ensure smooth daily operations and uphold company standards.
• Maintain food and beverage safety protocols and quality standards.
• Interact with guests in a friendly, efficient, and professional manner; address concerns promptly.
• Manage daily cash handling, deposits, and opening/closing procedures.
• Lead weekly manager meetings and daily pre-meal meetings.
• Oversee third-party delivery systems and ensure accurate to-go orders.
• Collaborate on staffing, scheduling, and performance management; interview, hire, train, and coach staff.
• Track sales, monitor costs, and contribute to overall business success.
• Build team morale and a positive work environment; develop menu knowledge, allergens, VIPs.
