Job summary

Northwestern Medicine in Chicago is seeking a Respiratory Care Practitioner III at the Canning Thoracic Institute for a full-time day shift. You will assess, plan, and deliver respiratory care to acutely ill patients across med/surg, ED, and ICU settings.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy, current RRT, and BLS; ACLS or NRP or PALS; and licensure competencies. This position emphasizes teamwork, education, and adherence to protocols within a patient‑first environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Respiratory Therapy is required.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is required.
• BLS certification required.
• ACLS or NRP or PALS required.
• ACCS/RPFT/AE-C/NPS certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Competent in all adult med/surg units and respiratory therapies.
• Deliver and assess response to ordered therapy; adjust frequencies as needed.
• Monitor and communicate patient condition to healthcare team.
• Educate patients and families on respiratory disease management.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and department initiatives.
• Able to perform relief charge duties when needed.
