Job summary

Black River Design Build is seeking a Senior Interior Designer to lead residential remodeling design projects from intake to professional Design Reveals and hand‑offs to estimators and production. You will mentor junior designers, set timelines, and elevate the design process as the company scales.

You will work on-site in the Milwaukee area, collaborating with architects, builders, and cross‑functional teams to ensure design intent, accuracy, and timely delivery, while using Chief Architect,

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional residential interior design experience.
• Experience leading design-build projects and managing client expectations.
• Strong portfolio showing creative and buildable residential design solutions.
• Fluency with design software (Chief Architect, AutoCAD, Revit, 20/20, SketchUp).
• Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field preferred.
• Willingness to work on-site in Milwaukee area with a 7:00 AM–3:30 PM schedule.

Responsibilities

• Lead design process for residential remodeling projects from concept through construction documents.
• Conduct design intakes, site measurements, and verify scope aligns with contract and budget.
• Develop floor plans and space plans balancing aesthetics and functionality.
• Prepare Design Reveals and client presentations.
• Mentor junior designers and draftspersons; set timelines and quality standards.
• Coordinate with architects, builders, and other professionals to ensure design intent.
• Manage hand-offs to Estimators and Project Managers; maintain clear communication.
