Job summary

Starburst Data is seeking a Sr Resident Solution Architect to partner with customers, understand their business challenges, and architect end-to-end solutions using Starburst products—covering data access, analytics, and performance optimization.

You will lead implementation, collaborate with partners, and design training programs to upskill teams. Stay current on data management trends while ensuring governance and security. 25% travel required; roles based in Central US or East US.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, engineering or related field.
• 8+ years in a technical role (solution architect, data engineer, or software engineer).
• Deep knowledge of data architecture including modeling, integration, and warehousing.
• Proficient in SQL and distributed engines (Presto, Trino, Spark).
• Strong problem-solving and strategic thinking for business challenges.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with customers and teams.
• Experience with Linux, cloud platforms, containers and programming (Java/Python/Bash).
• Client-facing/consulting experience; open-source contributions a plus.
• Experience in delivering technical training; familiarity with LLM patterns and AI governance.
• Prior exposure to training internally or externally is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with customers to understand goals, data architecture, and requirements.
• Design end-to-end solutions leveraging Starburst products for data access and analytics.
• Develop diagrams, specs, and deployment plans for customer projects.
• Lead implementation and deployment with customer teams and partners.
• Learn engine connectors and 3rd party integrations in depth.
• Provide guidance and best practices for using Starburst effectively.
• Train and upskill external personnel and partners on Starburst products.
• Create resources and best practices to enhance partner delivery capabilities.
• Troubleshoot issues during deployment and operation; stay current on trends.
