Job summary

TYLin is seeking a Senior Resident Engineer (Structures) to lead field inspection and oversight of transportation structures, including bridges and retaining walls. You will ensure construction aligns with plans and specifications, supervise staff, and coordinate with the Project Manager and contractors on-site.

You will mentor teams, uphold safety standards, produce cost estimates, and deliver concise technical reviews while maintaining contract compliance across Caltrans-related projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management or closely-related field.
• Master's degree preferred.
• P.E. license or CCM credential required and at least 15+ years of experience in complex bridge construction.
• Previous experience as a Structures Representative on at least two bridge projects with a minimum construction value of $20 million.
• Strong ability to write effective and concise reviews comments, and reports.
• Must be able to communicate and liaise well with Contractors and other team members to effectively resolve field issues.
• Previous construction management experience for Caltrans projects, or projects that had Caltrans oversight, is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee structures construction work at project sites, ensuring plans and specifications are followed.
• Conduct thorough field inspections of all falsework elements and ensure project execution is meticulous.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for project activities.
• Provide written progress reports and technical insights to stakeholders.
• Coordinate tasks with contractors to maintain smooth workflow and safety.
• Review contractor pay estimates and submittals with attention to accuracy.
• Lead field inspection teams and mentor staff, promoting growth and technical excellence.
