Job summary

Florida Atlantic University’s Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine, Department of Surgery, seeks an Associate Program Director for the General Surgery Residency. This senior leadership role partners with the Chair, Program Director, and faculty to advance the program’s mission and strategic goals.

The APD will help guide curriculum development, resident education and evaluation, and clinical/operational leadership, with an emphasis on safety, quality, and scholarly activity.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited General Surgery residency.
• Board certification/eligibility in General Surgery.
• Eligibility for an unrestricted Florida medical license and appropriate clinical privileges.
• Demonstrated commitment to academic medicine, graduate medical education, teaching, and resident mentorship.

Responsibilities

• Provide educational, clinical, administrative, and operational leadership for the General Surgery Residency Program.
• Lead curriculum development, resident evaluation, and assessment.
• Engage in recruitment, faculty development, scholarly activity, quality improvement, and patient safety.
• Participate in resident conferences, M&M, and Clinical Competency Committee activities.
• Foster accountability, professionalism, and ongoing program development.
