Job summary

Idaho National Laboratory in Idaho Falls is seeking a Research Operations Manager to lead and manage research operations within the EES&T Research Management Group. The role operates on a 9x80 schedule with every other Friday off.

The position emphasizes strategic goal setting, operational excellence, safety compliance, and continuous improvement across multi-program missions, while overseeing staff such as LM/LSC/PR and a >$2M annual budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in science or engineering with 9+ years relevant experience (or advanced degree with fewer years).
• 2 years of leadership/management experience.
• DOE Q clearance eligibility; US citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage research operations to ensure safety and continuous improvement.
• Develop strategic goals and maintain operational excellence across research operations.
• Direct Laboratory Manager, Laboratory Space Coordinator, Principal Researcher staff; manage hiring, performance and succession planning.
• Understand conduct of research principles and QA requirements to enable R&D activities.
• Manage internal assessments, surveillances, corrective actions and dashboards.
• Oversee budget greater than $2M per year and coordinate resource planning.
• Represent EES&T on INL committees and liaise with external partners to accelerate innovation.
