Job summary

Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a Nuclear Operations Shift Supervisor for the Fuel Fabrication & Nuclear Material Management Division, on a 4x10 schedule at the Materials and Fuels Complex with Fridays off. The role leads operational excellence in mission-critical environments and drives transformative R&D for national energy and security interests.

Responsibilities include directing a diverse team, ensuring quality and compliance, and coordinating cross-functional activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree with 2 years direct operation experience in fuel fabrication or nuclear operations, or 8+ years operations experience in fuel fabrication or nuclear operations.
• Direct experience leading small groups.
• 2+ years demonstrated leadership experience.
• Operating experience within Fuel Fabrication/Manufacturing & Nuclear Material Management and leadership experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, requiring US Citizenship.

• Train, motivate, and manage staff to meet unit targets and goals, potentially supervising multiple shifts or departments.
• Receive assignments based on incremental objectives and defined processes.
• Monitor and coordinate daily, weekly, or monthly activities, develop operational enhancements and maintain internal control.
• Help develop department goals and long-term plans, ensure quality and compliance, propose policy changes, resolve escalated issues with peers and subordinates.
• Identify and troubleshoot escalated problems of moderate to large scope/complexity.

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring Nuclear Operations Shift Supervisor to work on our Fuel Fabrication & Nuclear Material Management Division team. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our Materials and Fuels Complex with every Fridayoff.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

• Manage activities of a broad functional area through non-exempt and exempt specialists, provide direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance,
• Manage, train, and motivate staff to meet unit targets and goals, and manage employees performing similar or related tasks potentially managing more than one shift or department and subordinate managers.
• Receiving assignments based on incremental objectives and defined processes,
• Monitoring and coordinating daily, weekly, or monthly activities, developing operational enhancements and maintaining internal control,
• Helping develop overall goals and long-term goals of the department, ensuring quality and compliance, recommending changes to policies, identifying and resolving escalated problems of moderate to large scope, working with subordinate supervisors and functional peer groups, and gaining cooperation of others through presentations of technical information.
• Recommend changes to sub-unit, unit, or discipline policies.
• Identify, troubleshoot, or resolve escalated problems, working on issues of moderate to large scope/complexity.
• Work with subordinate supervisors and functional peer groups. Interaction requires interpreting and explaining information to audience's familiar with the subject.
• Gain cooperation of others,
• First level of management. Reports to Nuclear Facility Manager (NFM)

Required:

• Bachelor of Science degree and 2 years direct operation experience in fuel fabrication or nuclear operations , OR 8+ years' operations experience in fuel fabrication or nuclear operations.
• Must have direct experience leading small groups.
• 2+ years demonstrated leadership experience.
• Must have operating experience working within Fuel Fabrication/Manufacturing & Nuclear Material Management and leadership experience.
• This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

Job Information:

• The target pay range for this position is $132,550 - $198,207 annually. The full pay range is $93,840 - $225,180. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
• TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, and work in an office and field/laboratory environment. The job requires hand/finger dexterity to keyboard or type, handle materials, manipulate tools, and reach with hands and arms. The job requires operation of job-related equipment and driving a vehicle. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Sufficient visual acuity and hearing capacity to perform the essential functions and interact with people is required.
