Job summary

University of Michigan's Edwards Lab in the Department of Cell & Developmental Biology seeks a Senior Research Lab Specialist to independently design experiments, generate and analyze data, and lead other lab members. The role focuses on advancing projects related to trachea and esophagus biology using Xenopus, mouse, and pluripotent stem cells.

The successful candidate will work closely with the PI, Dr. Nicole Edwards, and contribute to manuscript preparation, data presentation, and mentoring

Qualifications

• PhD with 5+ years postdoctoral experience or equivalent.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience supervising others in a research lab.
• Molecular biology expertise and imaging microscopy experience.

Responsibilities

• Research projects (80%): Independently design experiments, generate data and perform analyses.
• Write the first drafts of research manuscripts with input from the PI.
• Present experimental results at internal meetings and scientific conferences.
• Lab mentoring and training (20%): Train new lab members and provide leadership to students and staff.
• Supervise graduate students, undergraduates, and technicians in a collaborative lab setting.
