Job summary

Pensions & Investments, a Crain Communications division, is seeking a Senior Research Analyst, Institutional Intelligence to strengthen our proprietary databases and create new data products. You will apply AI-assisted workflows to identify mandate signals and deliver timely, editor-ready insights for a sophisticated financial audience.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in financial research, data analysis, or a related role at an institutional investment firm, financial data company, or investment consultancy.
• Deep familiarity with the institutional investment landscape and how assets operate and communicate publicly.
• Comfort using AI tools to improve research quality and efficiency.
• Experience with unstructured data sources: board meetings, filings, disclosures, and RFPs.

Responsibilities

• Develop new data products and insights (mandate trends, data-driven story leads, analytical briefs).
• Expand P&I's institutional mandate database and refine AI-assisted workflows to monitor sources.
• Support P&I's annual survey program with surveys, data cleaning, and publication-ready datasets.
• Collaborate with editorial leadership and technology teams to broaden the research function.
