The University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Medicine is seeking a Research Administrator to lead unit and staff in managing pre-award and post-award activities, ensuring compliance with sponsor and institutional policies. This role emphasizes grants/contracts administration and strategic financial oversight.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree and six years in research administration with at least four in full life-cycle management; CRA or CPA preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Six (6) years progressively building research administrative background with at least 4 years in full life-cycle research administration.
• One (1) year supervisory experience preferred.
• Certified Research Administrator (CRA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
• Financial disclosure reporting required by State of Maryland Ethics Commission.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert direction for unit and/or team of research administration staff by balancing pre-award proposals and post-award administration.
• Develop and implement policy statements and annual project plans; provide direction for operational aspects of contracts and grant management.
• Manage the preparation and review of grant and contract budgets and applications; finalize documents for submission.
• Validate proposal errors or warnings; advise on staffing and budgetary requirements.
• Review sponsor guidelines to ensure compliance and eligibility; interact with sponsor representatives for clarifications and requests.
• Manage all grants submitted, track faculty grant histories, and oversee lifecycle research administration budget from initiation through closeout.
