Job summary

Ultra Clean Technology in Fremont, CA seeks a Senior Research Chemist/Scientist to lead advanced research, formulation, and characterization for semiconductor materials. You design and execute complex experiments, interpret data with rigor, and collaborate with Process Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality to transition chemistries into production.

This role focuses on improving yield, device performance, and process efficiency.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10+ years of experimental research in chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, or related field.
• Strong synthesis, characterization, and analytical instrumentation knowledge (spectroscopy, chromatography, microscopy).
• Ability to independently design experiments, interpret data, and draw scientifically sound conclusions.
• Experience collaborating with engineering or manufacturing to apply research to real-world processes.
• Strong problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead research, development, and optimization of semiconductor materials chemistries and formulations.
• Design and execute complex experimental plans, including DOE and mechanistic studies.
• Analyze data with statistical methods; communicate findings across R&D and manufacturing teams.
• Collaborate with Process Engineering to evaluate material performance in fab environments and translate research to production.
• Support scale-up, pilot testing, and technology transfer to production ensuring material readiness and process stability.
• Mentor junior chemists/scientists and contribute to building scientific capability.
