Rutgers University in New Jersey seeks multiple Research Teaching Specialist III for the RWJ - Pathology Research department. The role focuses on standard and developmental chemical testing, report preparation, and coordination in a on-site lab environment.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, performing chemical analyses on various samples, developing new methods, and potentially serving as a court witness.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in a natural science or physical science plus one year of related research experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in natural science or physical science plus two years of related research experience.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, assists with the coordination and review of the work from the staff in a chemical analysis laboratory unit.
• Conducts various physical, chemical, biochemical, toxicological testing, and analyses on food, milk, drugs, industrial hygiene, and environmental samples.
• Develops standardized procedures where possible and new testing methods as a result of modern developments, including the field of air pollution control.
• Assists with the preparation of exhibits to be used in court proceedings.
• May be required to act as a witness in court.
• Prepares letters explaining the results of chemical tests, examinations and analyses, and interpreting the findings.
• Prepares scientific papers for publication, participates in scientific meetings and conferences and serves on scientific committees.
