Job summary

Nabsys in La Jolla, California seeks a Senior Research Associate to support the SDO Laboratory’s genome mapping service. You will perform experiments, prepare data summaries, and present findings at conferences as part of presales projects.

Required: BS or MS in Molecular Biology or Human Genetics, 5+ years wet-lab experience, and a track record in nucleic acid work, mammalian cell culture, and documentation. This is a full-time onsite role with occasional travel to Providence, RI.

Title: Senior Research Associate, SDO Laboratory

Nature of Role: This is a unique opportunity to join our SDO Laboratory in La Jolla, California. Reporting to the Director of the SDO Laboratory, this role supports scientific activities related to the highly impactful customer facing genome mapping service laboratory.

Responsibilities

• Perform experiments as instructed by the SDO Laboratory Director for presales projects
• Prepare proper documentation and data summaries
• Present findings at conferences from work performed at SDO Laboratory

Support Collaborations

• Test new protocols and products and deliver results
• Generate data to accomplish the goals of projects assigned to the SDO Laboratory
• Provide feedback on your experience using the EGM platform, including new protocols, to the Nabsys R&D team

Compliance at SDO Laboratory

• Complete all necessary training required to work at the SDO Laboratory
• Provide EGM training to new employees and collaborators assigned to work at the SDO Laboratory
• Escalate compliance issues to the Director of SDO Laboratory

Requirements

• BS or MS in Molecular Biology, Human Genetics, or a related field
• 5+ years of hands‑on wet lab experience
• Detail oriented with excellent troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills
• Strong time management and organizational abilities
• Experience working in BSL-2 environments is required
• Hands‑on experience in mammalian cell/tissue culture and human specimen handling, including liquid and solid biopsy samples
• Expertise in nucleic acid extraction and sequencing library preparation, high molecular weight DNA isolation experience is required
• Knowledge of genomic mapping and sequencing technologies
• Prior clinical lab and customer support experience is advantageous
• Proven ability to design experiments is preferred
• Full-time onsite at the SDO Laboratory with occasional trips to Providence, RI, customer sites, and conferences
