Carter Machinery in Sterling, VA is seeking a Rental Field Service Technician for the Dulles area. You will maintain and repair Caterpillar and allied rental equipment, perform diagnostics, and apply troubleshooting to determine the correct repair path. Customer interaction and proper reporting are essential.

A CDL may be required and DOT certification is a goal. This role offers growth in a respected regional dealer.

Qualifications

• Heavy equipment field experience required (min 3 years for $5,000 sign-on).
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Ability to obtain CDL and DOT certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance on Caterpillar and allied rental equipment.
• Service, diagnose, and repair, including oil changes and filter replacements.
• Apply advanced troubleshooting to determine repair procedures on work orders.
• Provide recommendations to swap out machines requiring intermediate or major repairs.
• Disassemble and reassemble machines to factory specifications.
• Interact with customers and answer repair-related questions.
