Carter Machinery in Sterling, VA is seeking a Mechanic Technician Advisor - Rental to oversee technician workloads, perform maintenance and troubleshooting, and ensure timely repairs. The role reports to a Service Supervisor and requires strong leadership and a solid background with heavy construction equipment.

Qualifications

• Five years' experience with heavy construction equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and expert-level troubleshooting skills.
• Willingness to work shifts as needed, including days, nights, and/or weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight and guidance to technicians on daily workloads and maintenance priorities.
• Direct all activities in area in absence of Service Supervisor.
• Perform regular maintenance and emergency troubleshooting repairs.
• Monitor progress of jobs to keep on schedule and maintain orderly flow of work.
• Ensure service work gets completed in order of priority.
• Assist supervisor in identifying training needs for area personnel and scheduling training classes.
• Gather information from SIS, CAT, WTY, DBS to help in diagnosis and repair and determine warranty.
• Write service reports documenting diagnosis and repairs performed.
• Prepare work orders, parts lists, and time cards accurately.
• Review service reports for accuracy and completeness.
• Confer with management to resolve issues and complaints within workforce.
