Job summary

1st Avenue Power is seeking a Sr Transaction Counsel to support our renewable energy initiatives, negotiating supplier and EPC contracts while guiding regulatory compliance. This role partners with Executive, Operations, and Finance to balance risk with speed and smart decision-making.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in renewable energy law and strong drafting/negotiation skills. Location flexibility includes Bay Area or remote work; you will help shape scalable legal processes and templates,

Qualifications

J.D. from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (preferably California).
5+ years of legal experience, with at least 3 years in-house in renewable energy or clean tech.
Experience drafting and negotiating supplier agreements, EPC contracts, and related docs.
Ability to advise on document interpretation orally and in writing.
Excellent drafting, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts in the renewable space.
Collaborate with Executive Team, Operations, and finance to assess and manage risk.
Monitor evolving energy regulations and assist in policy development to ensure compliance.
Create scalable legal processes, playbooks, and risk review frameworks.
Coordinate with outside counsel and other stakeholders.
