Job summary

Bright Vision Technologies is seeking an experienced Windchill Java Developer for a 100% remote role in the U.S. The position requires strong Windchill customization skills, extensive Java experience, and a focus on durable, upgrade-friendly implementations.

You will work with cross-functional partners to translate requirements into robust Java designs, lead migration efforts, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring high-quality documentation and long-term system stability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of Java development with Windchill focus.
• Deep Windchill Java API and customization frameworks.
• Solid Windchill data model, lifecycle, and workflow internals.
• Strong Java OO design and performance engineering.
• Experience with JSP, HTML, and Windchill client-side customization.
• Experience with TAM.
• Strong SQL skills and familiarity with Oracle or SQL Server.
• Experience supporting Windchill upgrades.
• Excellent troubleshooting and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop advanced Java customizations within Windchill, including custom services, listeners, processors, validators, and helpers.
• Extend the Windchill data model with custom types, attributes, and relationships using TAM.
• Build custom JSP and HTML extensions, including custom tables, actions, and wizard pages.
• Develop custom queues and background processes for asynchronous Windchill tasks.
• Implement complex workflow expressions and robot delegates in Java, partnering with stakeholders for durable outcomes.
• Optimize performance of Java customizations, including profiling, query tuning, and caching strategies.
• Adhere to PTC customization best practices, ensuring upgrade-friendly customizations.
• Lead migration efforts to retire legacy customizations to modern patterns with reversible steps.
• Conduct code reviews and uphold engineering standards with stakeholders.
• Collaborate with consultants to translate requirements into clean Java designs.
• Provide hands-on post-go-live support and rapid incident triage with operations teams.
• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation for onboarding and audits.
• Mentor junior engineers through code/design reviews and pair programming.
