Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems LLC seeks a Senior Remote Maintenance Engineer to help design ARC's Remote Maintenance System and radiation hardened remote handling equipment. You will work across tokamak and plant engineering, guiding keep-up strategies for uptime.

You will lead multi-disciplinary efforts and drive R&D campaigns in remote maintenance, welding, sensing, and robotics while collaborating with external partners.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in mechanical engineering for complex structures.
• 7+ years designing remote handling equipment (RHE) with robotics.
• Proven leadership of R&D campaigns to advance TRL in remote maintenance.
• Strong CAD and structural analysis capabilities (NX/ANSYS).

Responsibilities

• Develop concept of operations for ARC Remote Maintenance System.
• Participate in pre-conceptual design of ARC fusion plant.
• Design radiation hardened RHE for ARC using mixed robotics approaches.
• Collaborate with tokamak teams to ensure remote maintainability.
• Perform multi-disciplinary trade studies across physics, design, and economics.
• Lead cross-disciplinary projects across external partners.
