Job summary

Stelo is hiring a Software Engineer to work on the engine behind our data replication platform. The role focuses on moving live data across diverse databases and cloud platforms. The engine is built in C++ and Java, with emphasis on database knowledge and production-grade code.

You will work on a small, fully remote team, owning features end-to-end from design to production, with emphasis on performance and correctness in both on‑premises and cloud deployments.

Qualifications

• Strong SQL and understanding of database internals (logs, recovery, locking).
• 5+ years building production backend software in C++ (databases, storage engines, distributed systems).
• Hands-on ODBC or JDBC experience: connections, statements, results, diagnostics.
• Cross-platform C++ development on Windows and Linux; debugging and profiling.
• Experience with AI coding assistants and the ability to review generated code.
• Clear written and spoken communication; comfortable working on a fully remote, distributed team.
• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and maintain core components of the replication engine, from capture through apply.
• Integrate with sources and targets: Db2, Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and cloud platforms like Snowflake, Databricks and BigQuery.
• Keep replication correct, resilient, and fast across on-premises and cloud environments.
• Work with support, QA, and product to investigate issues and ship robust fixes.
• Help shape design decisions for APIs and data structures to simplify cross-database support.
• Write well-documented, testable code and review teammates' code.
